VENTULA FC - Match Report - 17th September 2019

Ventula FC kicked off their new season of 5-a side on Monday with lofty
expectations; not only were we going to win the league, we were going to play
attractive, attacking football; there would be passion, there would be
motivation!

And with ‘ex semi-professional’ Andrew Shaw on our side, we were
very optimistic.

The game started well for Ventula, we overwhelmed the opposition with our
pressing and had several opportunities to open the scoring on the break.
Unfortunately, our finishing let us down and after our bright start we conceded
two cheap goals.

Less than a minute later, Ventula wonderkid Joe Noon left a defender
stranded and was inches away from chipping the keeper were it not for a
DeGea-esque save. After more sustained pressure we finally bagged two goals to
level the score at 2-2. There was then another flurry of goals from both teams
as the scores went into half time at 4-4.

The 2nd half was a story of poor fitness as Ventula’s minimal
(non-existent) pre-season left us flagging and chasing after the ball for much
of the half.

The final score ended 8-5 with Ventula’s dream of a ‘Barca style of play’
still very much a work in progress!

On to the next one.
