VENTULA FC - Match Report - 18th November 2019 - LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

And so we reach the final game of this short Autumn season…

Having started slowly Ventula had now won 5 games in a row and were set to play one last game to determine the winners of the league. There was everything to play for!

Yet, in the days before this final showdown all was not well in Ventula FC’s camp – a mysterious illness was ravaging the squad and on Sunday evening there were only three players in any fit state to suit up.

Clearly, something had to be done.... And so we took to the transfer market and after a late Sunday night spent scouting across the various leagues of Europe and with the transfer deadline looming, we secured the signing of Fabrizio Rudari from Milan to bolster our attack.

Still, Match Day arrived and we only had 4 players. This was going take a heroic effort from new signing Rudari as well as Ventula stalwarts Joe Noon, James Mackie and the Author.

Kick-off: and it quickly became clear that the Italian flair combined with the rugged British style of Ventula was a winning combination.

Despite being down on numbers the goals poured in… and poured in… and kept pouring in. By half-time Ventula were 8-0 up and running circles around the opposition.

One particular move will stick in the memory of the spectators for generations to come. James Mackie dived to his left to make a difficult save look routine, before leaping to his feet and rolling the ball out to Joe Noon at the back. Noon then beat two men with a series of step overs before passing the ball to The Author who left his man in the dust before squaring the ball to new signing Fabrizio for a sublime finish into the far corner.

The crowd erupted in pure elation at what they had just witnessed.

Meanwhile the Ventula FC players simply smiled – not only had we won the league, we had done something not many teams have the pleasure of doing, we had acted as a vessel for the Beautiful Game.
